Judo Takedowns GO KYO NO WAZA (Traditional Throwing Techniques) Judo Throws and SHIMMEISHO NO WAZA (Additional Throwing Techniques)
Gokyo No Waza is standard throws that consists of 40 throws in 5 groups. This is considered the standard Judo syllabus that originated in 1895. In 1982, on the 100th anniversary of Kodokan, 8 techniques were added that had been taken out, and 17 new techniques were also added and classified as official Judo throws that are called Shinmeisho No Waza.
The following are the throws allocated in 5 groups that are currently recognized by the Kodokan
